LexProxy Terms of Service

Effective date: October 11, 2026 · Version: 2026-10-23

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and LexProxy, LLC (formerly Appear For Me LLC), a Georgia limited liability company ("LexProxy," "we," "us"). They govern your use of lexproxy.com and the LexProxy service (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service for a law firm, you agree for yourself and confirm you are authorized to bind the firm.

1. What LexProxy is, and is not

LexProxy is an online marketplace where Georgia-licensed attorneys post court appearances and research and writing assignments they need covered ("Postings"), and other Georgia-licensed attorneys offer to do that work.

  • LexProxy is not a law firm and does not practice law, give legal advice, or represent anyone. No attorney-client relationship exists between LexProxy and any user or any user's client.
  • LexProxy is not a lawyer referral service. We do not recommend, rate for clients, or assign attorneys. Attorneys choose each other.
  • LexProxy does not supervise or direct legal work. The posting attorney and the covering attorney decide how the work is done and are each responsible for it under the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct and other law.
  • LexProxy does not share in legal fees. LexProxy's fee is a charge for the use of the Service: tools for finding and choosing attorneys, verification, the conflict-check and messaging tools, scheduling, payment processing, and records. It is not a share of any legal fee. LexProxy receives no part of any fee an attorney charges a client, its fee does not depend on the outcome of any matter, and LexProxy does not direct or regulate any attorney's professional judgment.
  • LexProxy does not handle client funds. All payments through the Service are between attorneys and come from their own operating funds (Section 6).
  • Track records, reviews, verification badges and Build My Practice matches are information to help you decide. They are not endorsements or guarantees of any attorney's competence or conduct.

2. Who may use LexProxy

To use the Service you must be an attorney licensed in Georgia and in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, and you must keep it that way.

  • You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it current, including your name, Georgia Bar number, contact details and firm.
  • LexProxy checks Georgia Bar standing before you can post or offer to do work. Verification is a limited check of public records at a point in time. It is not a guarantee, and you must tell us promptly if your license status changes, including any suspension, disbarment, or disciplinary order.
  • You are responsible for your account and for everything done with it. Keep your password secure and tell us right away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • Firm owners and admins may invite other attorneys to their firm's account and are responsible for managing who has access.

We may refuse, suspend or close an account if we cannot verify it, if a license lapses, or if a user breaks these Terms.

3. Postings, offers and selection

  • Posting. The posting attorney describes the work, the court or deadline, the fee, and any included time, overtime or hour cap. Postings visible to other attorneys must not include client names, case numbers or other confidential information; those go only in the fields LexProxy keeps confidential.
  • Offers. Verified attorneys may offer to do the work. For a fixed fee or an hourly rate, an offer accepts the fee or rate as posted, except for a same-courthouse offer (below). When LexProxy has bidding turned on and a Posting sets an ideal fee, an offer may name an amount within 25% above or below it (never below LexProxy's $85 minimum). An offer is an offer to do the work on the posted terms. Offers are visible only to the attorney who made them and the posting attorney.
  • Same-courthouse rate. On a court appearance Posting with a fixed fee, an attorney whose connected calendar shows them at the same courthouse that morning may choose to offer 20% less than the posted fee, in whole dollars and never below $85. It is the attorney's choice and is never applied automatically. LexProxy checks the attorney's calendar when the offer is made and keeps only the fact that it was a same-courthouse offer, never the calendar itself. The posting attorney sees the offered amount before choosing.
  • The posting attorney chooses. The posting attorney alone decides who does the work, choosing from the attorneys who offered, or choosing no one. LexProxy does not assign, rank or recommend an attorney for any Posting, and no one is assigned automatically.
  • Selection. When the posting attorney selects an offer, the covering attorney is engaged for the work on the posted terms at the offered amount (the "Agreed Fee"). The engagement is confirmed once the covering attorney clears conflicts (section 4) and, while payments are on, the posting attorney pays by the deadline shown on the Posting. If payment is not made by then, the selection lapses and the Posting reopens.
  • Editing. Before selection, a posting may be changed; attorneys who offered are notified and may withdraw their offers. After selection, the agreed terms and conflict names are locked. Dates, times, courts and due dates can change only by a reschedule the covering attorney accepts or declines.

4. Conflicts and confidentiality

  • After selection, the covering attorney sees the client, adverse party and other names provided for a conflict check. Before seeing any other case details, the covering attorney must confirm they have checked those names and have no conflict, and that they understand the limited scope of the engagement.
  • A covering attorney with a conflict must decline. The posting attorney is then refunded in full and the posting reopens.
  • The posting attorney is responsible for deciding what client information to share, for any client consent or notice the Rules of Professional Conduct require for engaging another lawyer, and for the accuracy of the information provided.
  • The covering attorney must keep everything learned through a Posting confidential, use it only to do the work, and protect it as they would their own client's information.
  • Neither attorney may solicit the other's client, or use the Service to take over a client relationship, except as the client and the attorneys agree outside LexProxy and the Rules allow.

5. The work

  • Court appearances. The covering attorney appears on the date and at the court posted, follows the posting attorney's instructions within the limited scope, confirms through the Service by one hour before the hearing that they will attend (or how late they expect to be), checks in through the Service on arrival, checks out through the Service on leaving (the check-out time is used for any extra-time fee), and files an outcome report within 24 hours of the hearing. Sharing location at check-in or check-out is optional and happens once each time.
  • Research and writing. The covering attorney delivers through the Service by the due date, follows the AI-use policy set in the Posting, discloses any use of generative AI as that policy requires, and is responsible for the accuracy of every citation and statement of law in the work. The posting attorney remains counsel of record and decides how the work is used or filed.
  • Acceptance. The posting attorney accepts the outcome report or delivery, or asks for changes. Work that is not accepted or questioned within 3 days is accepted automatically.
  • Work product. When the Agreed Fee is paid, the covering attorney's written work product for a Posting belongs to the posting attorney's firm for use in that client's matter. The covering attorney may keep a copy only as the Rules of Professional Conduct require or allow.
  • Contract engagement. By selecting an offer, the posting attorney and their firm engage the covering attorney as an independent contract lawyer for that Posting. The posting attorney remains responsible to the client for the matter, including supervising the work as the Rules of Professional Conduct require, communicating with the client, obtaining any client consent the Rules require, and deciding whether and how to bill the client for the work. The covering attorney is paid by the posting attorney's firm, not by the client, and their fee does not depend on whether the client pays the posting attorney. The covering attorney does not represent the client separately or form an attorney-client relationship with the client through the Service.
  • Independent professionals. Covering attorneys are independent professionals, not employees, agents or partners of LexProxy or of each other. Each attorney is responsible for their own malpractice insurance, taxes and professional obligations.

6. Fees and payments

  • No client or trust funds. Every payment through LexProxy (the Agreed Fee, overtime and extra hours, no-show reimbursements, and anything else owed) must come from the paying attorney's or firm's own operating funds. Do not pay from a trust account, an IOLTA account, or any account holding client or third-party funds, and do not use money that belongs to a client. Payouts must go to the covering attorney's own operating account, not a trust account. Each attorney represents this every time they pay or are paid through LexProxy. Money LexProxy holds while work is pending is the paying attorney's own money, never client funds.
  • Posting attorneys pay the Agreed Fee, plus any short-notice bonus, plus any accepted overtime or extra hours within the posted cap, plus the LexProxy platform fee. Posting itself is free. The posting attorney may enter one total for a Posting; the Service then shows the covering attorney's fee (with any bonus) and the platform fee separately, and other attorneys see only the Agreed Fee and any bonus.
  • The LexProxy platform fee is charged per covered job, paid by the posting attorney's firm as a separate line, not out of the Agreed Fee. For a court appearance it is $29, or $39 when the Posting is short notice, $44 when the Posting's estimated duration is 3 hours or more (3–4 hours, half day or full day), and $54 when both apply. For research and writing it is $29. Paying by bank account (ACH) takes $4 off: $25, $35, $40 or $50 for a court appearance, and $25 for research and writing. It is set by notice and expected time, not by dollars: it does not vary with the Agreed Fee or the outcome. It is a charge for the use of the Service, not a share of a legal fee (Section 1). Covering attorneys receive the full Agreed Fee, any short-notice bonus, and any overtime or extra hours; LexProxy deducts nothing from them.
  • Founding Member waiver. There is no platform fee, and so no bank discount, on Postings first published through November 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM Eastern by a firm with a Founding Member (one of the first 400 attorneys whose Georgia Bar standing LexProxy verified). The short-notice bonus and the same-courthouse rate still apply. Whenever else LexProxy waives its platform fee, there is likewise no bank discount and the short-notice bonus still applies.
  • Short notice. A court appearance Posting is short notice when the hearing is less than 24 hours after the Posting is published (Georgia time). This is decided once, when the Posting is first published; later changes to the hearing date or time do not change it.
  • Short-notice bonus. On a short-notice Posting, the posting attorney's firm also pays the covering attorney a $20 bonus, through LexProxy with the Agreed Fee. All of it goes to the covering attorney; it is not part of LexProxy's fee. It is paid for work that happens and refunded when the work does not happen, including a late cancellation (Section 7).
  • Minimums. The covering attorney's fee is at least $85 on every Posting. A court appearance Posting's total at the regular platform fee is therefore at least $114, or $144 when it is short notice, $129 when it is expected to take 3 hours or more, and $159 when both apply, less the bank discount when paid by bank account and less any platform fee LexProxy waives.
  • Which fees apply. A Posting keeps the fees in effect when it was first published, for its whole life.
  • When the platform fee and bonus are refunded. The platform fee actually charged (with or without the bank discount) and the bonus are refunded in full when the work does not happen: a conflict decline, a cancellation more than 24 hours ahead (or within the free period for research and writing), a withdrawal by the covering attorney, or a no-show. On a late cancellation (Section 7) the bonus is refunded and LexProxy keeps the platform fee. Otherwise both are kept and the bonus is paid to the covering attorney.
  • Payment methods. The regular platform fee is the price for every payment method, including credit, debit and prepaid cards and Apple Pay. The bank discount above is the only difference between methods. Bank (ACH) payments are preferred.
  • When you are charged. Nothing is charged when the posting attorney selects an offer. Payment is collected after the selected attorney clears conflicts, when the posting attorney pays to confirm them, by the deadline shown on the Posting (generally 24 hours after selection, or 2 hours before the hearing or due time if that is sooner). LexProxy holds it until the work is accepted, then pays the covering attorney the final amount in full. Accepted overtime or extra hours are charged to the saved payment method at acceptance. Unused hourly amounts are refunded.
  • Payment method on file. Covering attorneys keep a payment method on file for their firm. For covering work, it is charged only for a no-show reimbursement (Section 8).
  • Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. Covering attorneys receive payouts through a Stripe account and agree to Stripe's terms, including the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Stripe collects identity, bank and tax information directly; LexProxy does not receive full card numbers, bank account numbers or Social Security numbers.
  • Taxes. Covering attorneys are responsible for taxes on what they earn. Stripe may issue tax forms (such as Form 1099) where required.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails after selection, the posting attorney has 3 days to pay another way. After that, the firm cannot post new work until it pays, and LexProxy may pursue the amount owed. LexProxy may, at its discretion, pay the covering attorney from its own funds and recover the amount from the firm.
  • Chargebacks. If a posting firm disputes a charge with its bank or card issuer, the firm cannot post until the dispute is resolved. A firm that files a chargeback for work that was performed remains responsible for the amount owed.
  • Credits. A make-good credit issued after a no-show equals what the firm paid for the no-show appearance (the Agreed Fee, any short-notice bonus, and the platform fee it paid). It is applied automatically to your later selections until it is used up; any unused balance expires one year after the credit is issued. Credit has no cash value and cannot be transferred.

7. Cancellations, withdrawals and rescheduling

  • Court appearance cancelled by the posting attorney: free until 24 hours before the hearing. Within 24 hours, the covering attorney receives 50% of the Agreed Fee, LexProxy keeps the platform fee, and the rest, including any short-notice bonus, is refunded.
  • Research and writing cancelled by the posting attorney: free within 24 hours of selection. After that, the covering attorney may claim payment for work done, up to the Agreed Fee, within 7 days. The posting attorney may accept or counter. A claim or offer not answered within 3 days is accepted.
  • Withdrawal by the covering attorney: the posting firm is refunded in full, including any short-notice bonus and the platform fee. A withdrawal within 24 hours of the hearing or due date is a late withdrawal and appears on the covering attorney's track record.
  • Reschedules: the covering attorney may accept or decline a proposed new date. Declining releases them with a full refund to the firm, except that a declined reschedule proposed within 24 hours of the original hearing is treated like a late cancellation.

8. No-shows and disputes

  • No-shows. If a covering attorney has not checked in, the posting attorney may report a no-show starting 30 minutes after the hearing time. The covering attorney has 48 hours to dispute it. A no-show that is not disputed, or that stands, results in a full refund (including any short-notice bonus and the platform fee) and a make-good credit, and appears on the covering attorney's track record.
  • No-show reimbursement. The make-good credit is funded by LexProxy. A covering attorney whose no-show is not disputed, or stands, agrees to reimburse LexProxy the amount of that credit (the Agreed Fee, any short-notice bonus, and the platform fee the firm paid for the missed appearance). This reimburses LexProxy's actual cost and is not a penalty. LexProxy deducts it from the covering attorney's next payouts. Any amount still owed 30 days after the no-show stands is charged to the payment method saved for the covering attorney's firm. The firm is responsible for the reimbursements of attorneys who cover work through its account, and the firm and the covering attorney authorize LexProxy to make that charge (and to retry it if it fails). If a payment is more than the amount still owed, LexProxy refunds the difference. You may pay it at any time. While any amount is owed you cannot offer to do new work, and your open offers are withdrawn; work you have already been selected for is not affected. LexProxy may waive a reimbursement at its discretion.
  • Court appearances that happened cannot be disputed for payment. The posting attorney may request changes to the outcome report and leave a review.
  • Research and writing may be disputed only for one of these reasons: the work ignored explicit instructions; it contains fabricated or false authority; it used generative AI in a way the Posting prohibited or did not disclose it; or it was incomplete or too late to use. Except for fabricated authority and prohibited or hidden AI use, the posting attorney must first request a revision.
  • Resolving disputes. The attorneys resolve payment disputes between themselves through the Service: the attorney who opens a dispute makes an opening offer, the other may accept or counter, and an offer not answered within 3 days is accepted. LexProxy may suggest an amount but does not decide. Payment is held until the dispute is resolved.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits any attorney's obligations to a client, a court or the State Bar, or any remedy against the other attorney outside LexProxy.

9. Track records and reviews

The Service shows each attorney's track record (for example, completed work, ratings, late withdrawals and no-shows) and reviews from attorneys they worked with. Reviews must be honest, based on your own experience, and must not include client confidential information. We may remove content that breaks these Terms. Repeated late withdrawals or a no-show may lead to review by LexProxy, and to suspension.

10. Rules of use

You agree not to:

  • give false information, impersonate anyone, or let anyone else use your account;
  • post confidential client information in public fields, or misuse information obtained through the Service;
  • harass other users, post unlawful content, or use the Service in violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct or any law;
  • interfere with the Service, try to access accounts or data that are not yours, or copy or scrape the Service.

11. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@lexproxy.com; obligations for work already selected, payments owed, and these Terms' provisions on fees, confidentiality, disclaimers, liability and disputes continue afterward. We may suspend or close an account, remove a Posting, or hold a payout if we reasonably believe a user has broken these Terms, a license is no longer in good standing, or there is a risk of fraud or harm.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, LexProxy disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. LexProxy does not guarantee that any attorney will offer, appear, perform competently or meet a deadline, that court information or locations are accurate, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Court dates, locations and procedures should always be confirmed with the court.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, LexProxy is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost clients, or harm arising from any attorney's acts or omissions. LexProxy's total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the LexProxy fees paid on the Posting at issue or $100. This limit does not reduce LexProxy's obligation to pay out or refund money it holds for a Posting under these Terms.

14. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold harmless LexProxy and its members, managers and employees from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your legal work, your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of others, including your clients.

15. Governing law and disputes with LexProxy

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this section.

  • Binding individual arbitration. Any dispute between you and LexProxy arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator. The arbitration will take place in Cobb County, Georgia, or by video conference if the arbitrator allows. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
  • Individual claims only. Claims may be brought only on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not consolidate claims of different users.
  • Small claims. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
  • Court relief for confidential information. Either party may ask a court for an injunction or other equitable relief to protect confidential client information or intellectual property while a dispute is pending.
  • Costs. Filing, administrative and arbitrator fees are allocated under the AAA rules, and the arbitrator may award fees and costs where the law allows.
  • This section does not apply to payment disputes between attorneys about a job, which are resolved through the Service as described in Section 8.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. We will post the new version with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the Service before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.

17. Communications and SMS Terms

You agree to receive emails and in-app notifications about your account, Postings, payments and disputes. You can turn off optional emails in Settings; we will still send messages required to run the Service.

SMS Terms (text messages). If you check "Text me job alerts and hearing reminders" and give a U.S. mobile number, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from LexProxy at that number: job alerts that match your preferences, hearing reminders and updates on your appearances. Agreeing is not a condition of using the Service. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts at any time, or HELP for help; you can also turn texts off in Settings or email support@lexproxy.com. You confirm the number is yours, and you'll turn texts off if you give up the number. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your number; we never share it or your consent for anyone's marketing. Details: lexproxy.com/texting.

18. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and LexProxy about the Service. If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale of our business.
